| I had shopped at my lcs for almost 15 years and when they went out I was devasted. It took me a while to go to someone elses shop in Vegas but just was never the same. Now that I'm in WA and FL there are quite a bit so I don't get to attached to any LCS now. Jesse James

| when i started seriously collecting there was about 5 lcbs through out the yrs there were always at least 3 right now there seems to be only 2 it's been getting really bad for about the past 10 yrs..we use to have our own distributor for comics but now they go through diamond in cal...with all the price increases -fuel,raw materials,ect... the industry as a whole in hawaii,is sorely lacking..also this industry is considered a luxury expense so that makes it worst..can you imagine- we have the 2nd highest cost of living here- avg rent for 1bdrm studio in a rural area is about $600-$800/mo,town runs $800-$1200,avg cost of a 2bdrm house somewhere around $450k+, gas is about $5.29/gl reg $5.80/gl sup, my utilities last mo was $600 and i have solar-thank god- and i haven't even started talking about food! with the avg price of a comic going for $2.99 it's a wonder how shops can survive...the comic bk industry has really changed for me, i use to collect comics because it was fun and my parents thought it was educational, i just wonder how can kids afford comics - that's what this industry really needs - if adults can't afford it! without a strong base can the industry survive? i just don't see the future of this industry lasting without new blood coming into it...to me it's a really bad sign when lcbs start closing ...sad

That is unfortunate. It sucks when any comic shop closes. Here in Orlando, we've got numerous shops and they all seem to be doing okay though.

| Just goes to show, the rich get richer. They would rather stick to there price and make no money. Just goes to show people with more money than they know what to do with are out of touch.

| Well, the good new is, my shop guy is keeping his diamond account and is still going to pull for me..he has about 8 loyal customers that didn't flake on him, so he's gonna do that for us..and I'm going to stay loyal as long as I can..gonna miss going into the shop every week, but there are some others I can visit every now and then for back issues. What can I say..life tosses you a left..and you role with that punch, eh..
