I had a $1.50 comic sale last Saturday. I have been collecting for 26 years, and I want to sell off approximately 3/4 of my collection. I ran out of time organizing all the stuff for the Yard Sale...so I didn't have time to sort the Comics...so All 10,000 comics I want to sell went out on the lawn, unsorted, with a big $1.50 sign. This included Marvel, DC and Dell comics from the Early 60's in nice shape, up to the most recent issue of Secret Invasion...

My plan was to sort out the "Good" stuff throughout the day...but if anyone beat me to, say, a 1963 Superboy...I would sell it for $1.50 and be happy. It happened a few times...although less than I thought.

This isn't the point of the story though...I live in a mixed income neighborhood, with a lot of troubled teens. It's not the MOST crime ridden part of my city, it's only ONE of the most crime ridden parts...But the thing is, Teens, girls and boys, lined up in my yard for HOURS, digging through boxes of comics, asking my advice on what was good and what was bad...Several gave me or my wife their phone numbers to call them if we do a comic sale again.

So the point is, my wife and I decided that we are going to do something of a monthly comic sale in our yard whenever the weather permits. No price gouging...no mark ups on key issues...just $1.50, or less, all the time, for comics I no longer want.

My wife and I are excited about the prospect that my collection could live on in teens who were genuinely excited about comics the way I remember being excited about comics back in the day...I just don't see that excitement anymore at the LCS...

great job at least you had kids and teens that were really interested in the comics, unfortunately i tried that a couple yrs ago  and it didn't work out that way for me

i put out about 30 long bxs priced them at a buck a piece or 12 for $10 some of my friends came and bought some, but mostly all the kids in my area just overlooked the comics and

went straight for the games..they seem to have no interest in comics..it was kinda sad

That's another point about my yard sale...I was selling a NES, Super-NES, Nintendo 64, GBA, Sega Genesis & PSone all with games and boxes...I did sell the N-64 and the NES...but that was it...The comics were the heroes.

One thing I have been thinking today...the local library has comics...single issues...they get the main Marvel and DC titles...they are tore up within a week...maybe these kids have been reading these comics when they can at the Library, and if they wait a day or two, they're destroyed...so this is an opportunity for them to have their own copies that don't get destroyed.
