Kree_boy411 (7/6/2008)
Universal Soldiers (7/6/2008) No, nothing by the 12 cent area. Maybe I need to clean my scanner.
Sorry but all of you are being way to harsh on this one. Even with the accumilation of the defects there is no way this thing goes any lower than a 7.5. If you could see the book, i'm sure you would agree.
If I liked graded books, I would send this one off just to see how it comes back. Thanks for the input.I see 7 color breaks on the spine..color break right under the word Time..a hair in the middle of Stromm's monicle....color breaks on the right side of the book under the .12 box.....faded gloss......some kind of marks down by spidey as hes jumping away from the Robot...a mark by spideys hand as hes being held by the robot....and color breaks up by the title....not to mention the top edge wear... With all those defects i can see it getting alot lower than a 7.5.....but beauty is in the eye of the beholder...im sure its a beautiful book in hand.....and it is your book.... I think alot of what you are pointing out is part of the comic itself rather than defects

The image from spiderfan.org isn't showing up, you may need to click the link to see it. http://www.spiderfan.org/comics/reviews/spiderman_amazing/037.html A few of the things that you are pointing out appear on both of the random images from the web. (Dots in the M,some kind of marks down by spidey as hes jumping away from the Robot...a mark by spideys hand as hes being held by the robot (I'm seeing that in the other pictures too, so it must be part of the art)....). The hair in the monacle is not there (must be something on the scanner) and the creasing on the left is so faint that it took me the right angle with the light to see it. The gloss is a lot higher than it looks from the scan too. Free Bigs gave it a 7.5 too. But anyhoo, it just doesn't scan well I guess. It's mine and you can't have it.

Ok............just looked at multiple listings on ebay....the blemishes that you listed.........that i listed are all common place in the pics and must be part of the art...sorry...working off an old 20 inch NEC MultiSync E1100..........not the greatest for detail grading ......i would give it a solid 7.0.....still to many color breaks showing up in the scan....so thats the grade i give your scan and not the book!.......

I'm amazed by the amount of research you guys put into grading this book. I'm saying that in a good way! I'm sticking to my orginal grade which is still a valuable copy of my least favorite Ditko Spider-man cover, though I have to say it's still an amazing cover and book to own. Saying it's my least favorite Ditko cover is like saying I like $20 bills the least of all currency. Every book from his run is pure gold, pretty much the main reason I love early Spider Man books so much.
