| How does a black line through the UPC code affect the grade? I have recently acquired a collection with some early Marvel Star Wars issues in NM to NM- condition other than the line. I am wondering how much the line drops the grade? Thanks

That just means its a Direct Edition i belive.
It was for Distribution purposes (returns, direct vs newstand shipping). Does not affect the grade.

| If the black line through the barcode is machine printed, not hand written, then it is a direct edition, as Kree said. If it is hand written....then someone obviously didn't want it to scan at the checkout counter.
