Looking through other folk's collections, I noticed that
sometimes there are cover scans and sometimes not
even for issues that have covers scans if you look them
up directly in the db. Is this because these are scans
that the person has uploaded into their own collection,
or are the visible scans just the pics from the regular
db, and the missing ones are just missing for some reason
that I don't understand?

The cover scans for each issue are universal to the DB.  So, if the database shows a cover scan under the title, it should always be there.

There aren't any 'personal' scans.

Hmmm... Then I wonder what causes the 'view' link to not show up
sometimes for issues that have scans in the db. For example:
(hope ya don't mind ice...)

http://www.comicspriceguide.com/world/w-issues.asp?t_ID=1254&username=icebreaka

Has scans for #3, 4 & 6, but not for #1 & 2, even though going to the title in the db
has scans for all the issues.

Wow, you're right.

Maybe one of the admins can take a look at it......definitely seems like something is off there.

This has to do with how the scans are stored in the system and not anything a particular member has done (You'll notive in the gallery view for the title that I actually uploaded all the scans).  Anyone who has that particular series in their collection will have the same problem viewing the images when looking at their personal collection.

The reason for this is that a few years ago Bryan switched the file naming structure used to save the scans in the system.  Originally, the files were saved using issue number for the particular series.  Howerver, now the scans are saved in the system using a unique number for each scan (I believe), which isn't connected to the particular title.  For example, Grendel Devil May Care Issue number six is saved as lrg6.jpg, whereas Issue #1 is saved as 2707.jpg.

Anyway, the reason is doen't show up in the individual members view is because Bryan when changing over the system failed to update those screens to account for the new image naming sceme.  He update the main title viewing screens, but overlooked individual screens.  He also failed to update the Admin title view screens.

Hope this explains things and maybe Bryan will see this and fix the problem
