Anyone read this one shot?  I thought it was a nice wrap up to the events of House of M, Son of M, and X-factor over the past few years.  It wasn't the most creative of ways to wrap things up, but I still enjoyed it, and it was nice to see a hanging plot thread finally tied up once and for all.  I'd recommend it for anyone that's still reading X-Factor, or for anyone that followed the Son of M mini series.

After looking like he was about to kill himself for most of the book, things eventually straightened out.  He sort of had an epiphany as he had this long internal monologue with himself... (though he believed he was talking to Wanda, Magneto, Layla Miller, etc.)  From what I can gather one of two things happened... either a) the terrigen mists finally restored his power, or b) much like cyclops in astonishing x-men, Quicksilver just had some sort of weird mental block which prevented him from accessing his powers... either way after some soul searching he eventually realizes his potential once more and has access to his powers.  Whats more significant though, is that as a result of his soul searching he's seemed to have turned over a new leaf again, and seems to be interested in making amends for his past problems.  Look for the hero Quicksilver in a book (probably X-Factor) soon.

I ordered it since the title has 'X-Factor' in it, and I read that book, but I'm wondering if I need to have read Son of M to understand it all? I hope not.

This one shot won't really mean a thing to you unless you've read house of m and son of m.  Honestly, I can't in good faith recommend you pick up Son of M.  It wasn't a bad story by any means, but it's such a self contained arc from a few years ago that unless you really dig quicksilver, or really want to know why he's been the way he has in X-factor, then I'd advise you to pass on the mini.  However, it can be picked up for pretty cheap, so if you want X-factor: The Quick and The Dead to make sense, then I'd pick up this lot here...

Son of M 1-6 for only $7.23 with shipping included.

Thanks Havok but crap, I was afraid of that. I've had the trade in my wish list on chapters.ca but never got to ordering it. That ebay auction looks tempting but I'm not in the US so shipping is bound to be a lot more.

Ah, to hell with it. I'll try to understand whatever I can out of it.
