actually it looked like EXACTLY what I expected, a wolverine story that could have been told in one or 2 issues of his regular book, if marvel wasn't so greedy.  The only surprise was the WW2 aspect.

So did they re-release the first one in color too i heard?...

Wow. Money Money Money

It's really not about Marvel being greedy. Pretty much any series that is popular(like Wolverine) is going to be collected in trades. This is why almost all modern arcs are 5-7 issues. I rather them publish a 3 issue mini than stretch out a 3 issue sotry into 6 issues in the regular title. This actually gives you the option of only buying the book if it interests you, as opposed to if it were in the rgular series and you didn't want to break up your run.

As for the color version, it wasn't re-released, the black and white and color were released at the same time. While this is obviously a little bit of a money grab, you really only have to buy one or the other. And, once again, since it's not in the main series, most completists wouldn't even necessarily be comppeled to pick up both. It's also better than just a regular variant cover. At least you're actually getting a slightly different product.

Everyone is free to thier opinions, but I think sometimes people just like sto scream "Greedy, greedy, greedy!" at Marvel and Dc without really thinking about why things are the way they are.

That's maybe a bit of a stretch. The publishers put out multiple versions of an issue for only one reason: more money. Whether or not that's a good thing is a matter of opinion. Companies exist to make money; given this, I don't see how anyone can say it's "bad" when they try to increase profits. But don't kid yourself; that's 100% what it's about. When they see that they have a hit they milk it for all they can get. I mean, why wouldn't they? Out of humanitarian concern for my wallet?

In going through my comics recently, I've found tons of doubles from the 80's. I think they're issues that I subscribed to but then couldn't wait for arrival, so I picked them up at the comic store anyway. No variants here by any stretch, just stupidly buying each one twice. Compared to that, buying variants is a shrewd move!

Just cause Zombies ate my brains, doesn't mean I'm stupid. I know WHY the put out variant issues. I was really more addressing the mini series versus regular series.I guess my main point with the variants was-buy it if you want, if you don't,don't.

It's not really a case of the big 2 being too greedy. Like you said, they're businesses. What do you expect? They are going to try to maximize profits. I was just pointing out that, inthis particular instance, there was a "silver lining" to the situation.
