Did anyone check this out? I was looking forward to it, because of the return to comics of Carey Bates, who wrote The Flash for decades as well as handling Superman (I think).

Anyway, I thought it was pretty good. Not Earth-shakingly original, but good enough to keep my interest (more than I can say for almost all current comics), and if it really goes in the direction suggested by this first issue, I'm all about it. Although I'd bet money that it won't. Mr. Bates was known for throwing curves right and left, so who knows what will wind up happening. One thing I was happy to see was that it was written with a very contemporary voice. I was worried that it'd sound too much like a throwback to the 80's, when Carey last wrote comics. I would never have mistaken this for a conversation between Barry & Iris, or Barry and that icky Fiona lass.

I won't give anything away, in case anyone wants to pick it up. Give it a shot though, not having read any modern Marvel comics, I'd still be willing to say that it's not your standard approach.
