First the good news HeadComix Wiki is back online. It's mostly fixed and running on a brand new, latest version of DocuWiki. And it's at a brand new, temporary domain: http://www.azmic.org/ugwiki/ If anything is missing, maybe it was in the wrong directory, and didn't make the cut. But it looks like i remember it.
Now remember how i said i'd host it till the end of time, or untill i got tired, whichever came first?
Well it's a Tie. The world is ending next year. And i am REAL tired of this. Fixing it and importing all those files was an extream pain in the ass. I am NEVER doing it again.
Could someone Please take over hosting and admin duties? Before next January. (2012) I know the end is in Dec. or something, But i need a few months to rest-up for it.

Let me re-phrase that:
This was a whole hell of a lot of fun. A real spacy trip.
You need to try this Admin thing. You'll love it.

I would like to look into it, Zonker. But it certainly sounds like a pain. Surely there is some way to simplify the admin duties, by forcing contributors to do more of the work. You say you are responsible for importing all those files, but why is that absolutely necessary? To ensure accuracy or what? I'm not sure what would be involved or the technological challenges, but please see my PM to you.

Nahh... You might find it an exciting challenge. even a learning experence. I overstate the difficulty, to cover-up my own inexperence.
> ...You say you are responsible ("Responsible" Who me? NO i never said that. That word is not in my vocab) for importing all those files, but why is that absolutely necessary? To ensure accuracy or what?
Because i could not fix it. I had to do a brand new install. (it needed upgrading anyway) That left me with just one page, blank. I never did figure out how to "import" anything. What took so long was figuring out which of the old files to upload, where to put them, and tweaking the settings on the server. ('read only', 'wright only', etc.)
Your experence may very.
> Surely there is some way to simplify the admin duties, by forcing contributors to do more of the work.
Actually there are only as many duties as you feel like taking on. Contributors DO do most of the work.
> ...your wiki is a valued internet resource... > ... from your old message board... > ... if there's any way I can help salvage your terrific wiki.
I want to be clear on this. It is not MY wiki. Never was. (nor the forun neather) ComixJunky started it. A bunch of folks worked on it. I only provided the space for it. When CJ left in discust, it just sat there taking up my server space. That was OK by me, i like the wiki. But when it broke, I was expected to fix it. :-( I now see that i'm over my head, and i need to unload it. Ahem... I mean... I need to Find it a better home.

We were and are using the free version of DocuWiki from SplitBrain. Being free, It has NO tech support. but there are a few online help pages. You are not necessaryly stuck with DocuWiki.
Basicly: you download it, unzip it, and upload it to your server. See: http://www.dokuwiki.org/install http://www.dokuwiki.org/installer http://www.dokuwiki.org/security Then you would start building. I don't see any "import" function. We could have "upgraded" if the old wiki was working, and it would have automaticly imported our files, i think. I didn't see any info on changeing servers thou. So it looks to me like you will have to FTP upload our data to the server. Like i did.
Just a thought: Wikis have pretty loose security. So they can be added to by anybody. You might want to host it on a seprate domain from a store or shopping basket or such. IT pros at the big sites know how to keep em both secure, but i don't.

Zonker (6/21/2011)
The old forum was easy. I only had to Re-name the main directory back to /forum/. http://www.headcomix.info/forum/It doesn't look healthy. The background images are missing. I see some scans in the posts, But i wouldn't know if any are missing.
Well, now, it's nice to see that all those posts weren't lost! It's a shame that it ever had to be pulled down.

Oh. You thought i ment importing files was part of the admin duties. HELL NO. I was complaining about the repair work.
But that might not be a bad idea. With a dozen people adding stuff, and each one with a diffrent idea about where their files should go. And each one using a diffrent nameing system The files are a total mess. Someone did set up an alphabetical file tree, but nobody used it.

Looking through the old forum, so much information in there that would be lost... Happy to see it available to see and hope someone takes over to give it permanent availability. Freak Brothers #1 thread, Freak Brothers #2 thread and Big Ass #1 thread had so much info.

Just notice the Trina thread is no longer there. Also, the want list section isn't either that I could have used since I didn't keep a back-up copy.

I have started a seprate thread about the old HeadComix forum. You might not see the need, but i do.
http://www.comicspriceguide.com/boards/143128/HeadComix-Old-Forum-thread
The Wiki and the forum are two diffrent animals. And this way, when i start screaming Arrrggg, rrRRRrrrARRRRRRgggggGGGGAAA@A@AAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG II CAN"T FUGGGGGGGIN TAKE IT ANY MORRRRRRRRRR You'll have a better idea what i'm talking about by which thread it's posted in. -
From now on, anything i post in this thread, has nothing to do with the old HeadComix forum

Just noticed the "S" page of the wiki is all jumbled up. I was wondering if anyone could fix the page, I would attempt it, but I really have no idea how to do it.
