An AFA-graded 60 or excellent condition example of the 1978 Kenner Star Wars Luke Skywalker action figure with telescoping saber realized $6,999 on eBay. The figure was on the earliest variation of the card that is referred to as a 12 back due to the card having illustrations of the original 12 action figures offered. The Luke Skywalker with telescoping saber is a rare variant which was originally only offered in the Early Bird set. The figure was then altered to the more common version of the action figure, however a small number of telescoping figures were packaged on card.
The telescoping light saber is not only found on Luke Skywalker, but also on a small number of Ben Kenobi and Darth Vader action figures also with these variations being rare whether loose or carded.
