This week CPG brings you a look at a truly rare comic the first comic by John Byrne. Thanks to our friend Al Stoltz for contacting us with this great piece of history.

In 1970 John enrolled in Calgary Canada at The Alberta College of Art and Design. While there he worked on the college newspaper. The first comic book work by John Byrne was a comic he published titled ACA Comix in 1971. The first issue featured a character called The Death’s-Head Knight. In 1973 he left college without graduating and broke into comics by working for Marvel Comics on FOOM in 1974.

“The print run had to be super low and given away as a college project by Byrne. I ask how many even survived? This amazing rare item turned up in a random box years ago and sat until I could research what it was,” said Stoltz.

How many of this rare book exist? CPG is asking that if you have a copy of ACA Comix #1 please email us at pr@comicspriceguide.com as we’re curious how many copies are out there.
