The cover art for Captain America #207 by the great Jack Kirby recently sold for $6,957 on eBay. The art measures 11"x17".
There is an unusual story behind this art. As the seller tells it, "[O]riginally, Stan Lee had John Romita do another Cap head to place over the Original Kirby head which was used for the finished comic image. The Romita head was removed professionally by an art conservator and placed on a stat replica board of the original leaving nothing but pure original Jack Kirby art which he also autographed bottom left in the box."
Both pieces were included in the sale.
