The results are in from Pedigree Comics, Inc.’s recently completed Grand Auction. The auction began the night of Tuesday, July 12th and ended the night of Tuesday, July 19th, in the separate Grand Auction section of their website (www.PedigreeComics.com). There were over 450 CGC certified comic books to choose from and most of the lots met reserves. The total sales was just under $550,000 ($547,474) and with post-auction deals in the works, the total number should exceed $600,00.
According to Pedigree Comics’ President and CEO, Doug Schmell: “The auction was a phenomenal success and as usual, Marvels led the way with many record sales, particularly Silver Age Marvels in 9.4 and higher. The highlight of the auction was the almost 40 (39) books from the recently pedigreed Twin Cities original owner collection out of Minneapolis, Minnesota. All of the Twin Cities books were early to mid 1960’s Marvels and DC’s in 9.4 to 9.8 (save for 1 issue) and many of the Twin Cities set new sales records. Amazingly, the only book in the auction from this phenomenal collection that did not grade 9.4 or better was the Journey Into Mystery #83 in 9.0 that sold for a record price of $52,000. Other ultra high grade Silver Age Marvels saw very strong results as well. The demand for these CGC graded Near-Mint and higher 1960’s Marvels is still unbelievably strong”.
