Pedigree Comics, Inc. is pleased to announce that their upcoming Grand Auction is scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 9, 2011 and will last for eight (8) days ending beginning on Tuesday, May 17, 2011. The auction will have several hundred high grade and ultra high grade CGC certified comics, mostly from the Silver and Bronze Ages. There is no Buyers Premium on any of the lots in the auction and most of the items will have no reserve. Every book is CGC graded and the minimum bid is only $100. You can check out over 50 books in the Auction Preview right now at www.PedigreeComics.com.

According to Pedigree’s CEO and President, Doug Schmell “The highlight of the auction is undoubtedly the brand new group of high grade Silver Age Marvel keys Pedigree has just obtained on consignment. The featured book is the incredible CGC 9.4 copy of X-Men #1, a tightly graded Near-Mint comic with snow white pages. It is easily the best copy we have ever had at Pedigree Comics and features the origin and first appearance of the original X-Men team. This highly valued issue is only going to increase in demand with the upcoming release of X-Men: First Class in early June. Trailing only two pedigreed 9.8’s and two others in 9.6, this beauty is the 5th nicest existing copy of X-Men #1 and is unbelievably fresh and glossy. Amazingly, it is the only X-Men #1 CGC 9.4 to have strict white pages.

Other Silver Age keys in the auction include an Amazing Spider-Man #1 in CGC 9.0; an Avengers #4 in CGC 9.4 (first Silver Age appearance of Captain America); Daredevil #1 in CGC 9.4 that looks like a 9.6; Strange Tales #110 in CGC 9.2 featuring the first appearance of Doctor Strange, a killer VF/NM CGC 9.0 example of Tales of Suspense #39 (origin and introduction of Iron Man); Fantastic Four #1 in CGC 8.5 and a solid CGC 7.0 copy of Amazing Fantasy #15 featuring the origin and first appearance of Spider-Man.

Please make sure you check out this space in the next couple of weeks for more updates and announcements regarding the May Grand Auction, including the announcement of the incredible 9.4 to 9.8 group of books that Mr. Schmell picked up at the recent Megacon convention in Orlando, Florida two weeks ago.
