Press Release

Nomination ballots for the 2011 Harvey Awards, honoring works published in 2010, are due Monday, March 28, 2011. Ballots will be accepted by email until midnight on March 28. For those who wish to mail the ballot, it must be postmarked by March 28 to be considered. Ballots can be downloaded from HarveyAwards.org. Completed forms can be e-mailed to harveyballots@hotmail.com.

In addition to voting, creators are invited to blog, Tweet, and use other social networking options to promote their work and the Harvey Awards. Professionals and fans can join us on Facebook (facebook.com/harveyawards), Twitter (@harveyawards), our blog (harveyawards.blogspot.com) and our website at www.harveyawards.org.

Nominees for this year, as well as any prior year, can use the Harvey Awards Logo bullet on their websites and published works to show that they have been honored.  Shown in this press release, these images are available by request at baltimorecomiccon@yahoo.com.  These images, incorporating a self-portrait of Kurtzman, were designed by John Gallagher and Mark Wheatley.

The Harvey Awards will be presented Saturday, August 20, 2011 in Baltimore, Maryland as part of the Baltimore Comic-Con. This year, our Master of Ceremonies will be Scott Kurtz, creator of PvP, the popular comic-strip hosted at pvponline.com. This will be Scott's third year as MC.

Nominations for the Harvey Awards are selected exclusively by creators - those who write, draw, ink, letter, color, design, edit or are otherwise involved in a creative capacity in the comics field. The Harvey Awards are the only industry awards both nominated and selected by the full body of comic book professionals.

The Harveys would not be possible without the generous sponsors of the Awards. Sponsors for the 2010 Harvey Awards included DC Comics, ComiXology, IDW Publishing, Brett's Comic Pile, Painted Visions Comics, Cards, & Games, Richmond Comix, and the Baltimore Comic-Con. We look forward to welcoming current and new sponsors to be a part of the 2011 Harvey Awards.

This year's Baltimore Comic-Con will be held August 20-21, 2011. Convention hours are Saturday 10:00 am  - 6:00 pm and Sunday 10:00 am - 5:00 pm. The ceremony and banquet for the Harvey Awards will be held Saturday night, August 20, 2011. Additional details about the Harvey Awards and the awards ceremony will be released over the next few months.
