The world of comics is populated by collectors of all stripes. Some chase first appearances and key issues, others go for cover themes and artists, while the truly hard-core collectors are called “Completists.”

Completists will spend years of their lives and a small fortune amassing every single issue they can get their hands on from a multitude of sources. The consignor of this amazing run, in his own words “…would go to mini cons back in the late 70’s which were almost every other weekend.  Going on vacations, the first thing I would check would be the phone book for comic stores, and in between the conventions and the stores, I filled in a lot of holes…then I discovered the Comics Buyers Guide.  With hundreds of books advertised in CBG, I was able to complete gaps in my collection while some even came from the E. Nelson Bridwell Collection, an editor for DC Comics. I collected off and on from 1978 through 1995 using all the above methods, and I recently purchased the last piece of the puzzle, a Batman #28.”

This collector took every demanding step and put together his complete run of Batman that spans more than 50 years and 500 issues running from issues #1 through #500, and he consigned it to the November/December Event Auction.
