Press Release
ComicConnect.com is pleased to announce that a rare copy of the very first Archie comic book will be included in their September Event Auction. The comic, Pep Comics #22, introduced the characters Archie, Betty and Jughead to the world in December of 1941. Extremely rare in high-grade, this copy certified by CGC is a 5.0 VG/FN and available for bidding right now.
"We are really excited about this very rare and highly sought-after comic that is so much a part of comic book history," said Rob Reynolds, Director of Consignments. "With the coverless copy recently selling for over $3,000, it’s amazing to see how far demand outstrips supply, and of course, there can be only one lucky winner in this auction."
"When reviewing GPAnalyis.com for the history of publicly recorded sales of Pep Comics #22, many collectors and enthusiasts may be startled to see that there is only one such recorded sale," said Stephen Fishler, CEO of ComicConnect.com. "This is one of the toughest books for Archie fans to find, with only seven unrestored comics on the CGC census, and only two higher graded than this one."
The Pep Comics #22 joins a run of Pep’s that includes a nearly complete run of Pep Comics issues #1 - 50 as well as a tough group of Archie Comics ranging from issues 3 - 30.
