ComicsPriceGuide has learned that a Human Torch #1 in CGC's highest graded Near Mint 9.4 tier will be auctioned with no reserve in ComicLink's upcoming August Featured Auction. The book is one of only three existing examples at CGC's top tier, and the only one with Off-White to White or better page quality. As Timely collectors know, early Timely issues are infamous for having pages with some evidence of tanning, and it is actually expected even on extremely desirable, high-grade examples. The Torch #1 is not the only Timely example that is striking within the upcoming ComicLink auction. There are also two CGC certified 9.6 Timely's in this auction, including Captain America Comics #52 and Marvel Mystery Comics #75. Both are the single highest graded examples of their respective issues, and one of just a handful within their entire title runs to receive the grade of 9.6 (only four other Marvel Mystery issues and five other Captain America Comics issues have received a 9.6 grade from CGC with no 9.8s have been certified to date).
