Pedigree Comics has just received on consignment a fantastic and near-complete run of the popular Silver and Bronze Age Marvel title, Sgt. Fury and His Howling Commandos. The run consists of 92 issues between #1 and #100, plus Annuals 4, 5 and 6. Almost every book (86 out of 95, over 90%) is in CGC certified 9.4 or higher, with many (more than 1/3) in 9.6 or 9.8 grade. 26 of the books are the highest CGC graded according to the census with most of the remaining issues the second highest. Every issue above #20 is in ultra high grade and of the 9 books not in 9.4 or better, only 3 are less than 9.2 (#1 in 8.5; #2 in 7.5 and #7 in 9.0).
The run is sprinkled with a bunch of books from pedigreed collections, including Boston, Don Rosa, Golden State, Massachusetts, Mile High II, Oakland and Winnipeg. Because of the pedigree factor and the consignor’s affinity for superior page quality, almost all of the books have off-white to white or white pages. The consignor is a Sgt. Fury fanatic who purchased CGC-only books from this early 1960’s to early 1980’s war title, stopping his collection at issue #100 and Annual #6. This was the only comic title he collected and his labor of love shows in this incredible run.
Overall, this is the best and deepest Sgt. Fury run ever consigned to Pedigree Comics and ever offered for sale. The books will be listed in the New Arrivals section of the Web site (www.PedigreeComics.com) beginning on Monday, May 3rd, in reverse numerical order, beginning with Annual #6. 10 books will be listed each day until Wednesday, May 12th, when the final 5 books will go live (issues 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6).
