A CGC certified apparent 8.5 copy of Adventure Comics #40 with off-white pages sold $10,100 on eBay after obtaining 18 bids. The copy sold had extensive professional restoration including color touch, pieces added, tear seals, cover cleaned, reinforced, and reglossed. This key Golden Age comic book featured the first conceived story of the Sandman and also the begining of the characters run in Adventure Comics.
The CGC Census currently notes 19 copies certified with two copies tied as being the highest graded Universal grade copies in 7.0.
