The original art by Jack Kirby to Captain America Comics #6 page eight sold on eBay for $38,050 after obtaining 46 bids. The page featured Captain America and Bucky in every panel fighting The Fang.
This newly discovered piece of original art was recently discovered by the grandson of the original owner. In 1941, a young man worked at Lewis Artists' Materials, a store about several blocks from Timely Comics. He made regular deliveries of illustration boards and other supplies to Timely. He was given several pieces of original art by the staff at Timely Comics during his time working for Lewis Artists' Materials. The grandson of the gentleman 69 years later helped him clean out his house in upstate New York and after rediscovering the pages were given to him by his grandfather as a gift.
The artwork was in excellent condition overall with some very minor soiling near the edges. The art board measured 15" X 20" with the image area measuring 13 1/2" X 18 1/2".
