The Hero Initiative will be appearing at this year's WonderCon, being held at the Moscone Center South in San Francisco, California this weekend, April 2-4, 2010. In addition to the guests appearing at their booth over the course of the weekend (schedule below), the non-profit organization will also be co-hosting the WonderCon Weekend Party along with The Comic Art Museum and The Comic Outpost. The event will be held on Friday, April 2, from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. with a portion of the proceeds from the event will going to comic book artist Ed Hannigan. Hannigan's work is currently being featured in the Cartoon Art Museum's exhibition Ed Hannigan: Covered.
According to the press release, tickets for this event will be sold at the Cartoon Art Museum booth on the floor at WonderCon, and at the door at the museum, 655 Mission St., just three blocks from WonderCon. Ed Hannigan, who is suffering from multiple sclerosis, will receive a portion of the proceeds. Tickets prices range from $20-$35. Those guests who donate $35 or more will also receive a special gift bag courtesy of the Cartoon Art Museum. In addition, a silent auction will be held at the party, and all proceeds from the auction will go directly to Hannigan.
Many of the guest attending the show will also be attending the fund raiser, including: Arthur Adams, Amanda Conner, Sergio Aragones, Joyce Chin, Jimmy Palmiotti, Greg Rucka, Gail Simone, and Jen Van Meter.
