It is with great sadness that we report that legendary comic creator Dick Giordano passed away on March 27, 2010 at the age of 77. Giordano, who began his career at DC Comics in the late '60s as an editor, is probably most famous for his run as inker on the Art Adams penciled Batman and Green Lantern/Green Arrow books of the '70s. In addition, Giordano had the honor of inking the first-ever DC/Marvel comic crossover in Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man in 1978, as well as inking the now-famous Superman vs. Mohammad Ali.

Working closely with Adams, Giordano helped to nurture many young artists through Continuity Studios before returning to DC in 1980. Upon his return, Giordano helped usher in the characters from Charleston Comics, where he served as Editor-in-Chief, into the DC Universe, which ultimately led to Alan Moore and Dave Gibbon's Watchmen mini-series. While at DC Comics, Giordano worked as an artist on the continuity-streamlining series, Crisis on Infinite Earths, as well as inking John Byrne's run on The Man of Steel.

Giordano passed away from pneumonia due to the complications of leukemia, COPD and emphysema from which he suffered.
