
Doug Schmell of Pedigree Comics, Inc. reports that a new group of Silver Age keys has been consigned to his company’s upcoming Grand Auction, scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m. the night of Sunday, April 18th and will last for ten days until Wednesday evening, April 28th. With the second best existing copy of Fantastic Four #1 (a white paged CGC certified 9.4) already announced and listed in the Auction Preview, this auction is shaping up to be a major event for early high grade CGC graded DC and Marvel keys.
The brand new consignment includes the Pacific Coast copy of Daredevil #1, a gorgeous 9.4 with off-white to white pages (the second highest CGC ranked copy behind only 4 in 9.6); a Fantastic Four #1 in 8.5 with off-white to white pages (10th best known copy); a killer copy of Fantastic Four #5 in 9.4, the highest CGC grade given to date on this first appearance of Doctor Doom; a Journey Into Mystery #83 in 9.0 (the origin and introduction of Thor and the 9th finest known copy); Amazing Spider-Man #14 in 9.6 with white pages (highest graded and best existing copy and features the first appearance of the Green Goblin; Amazing Spider-Man #17 in 9.6 (semi-key as it features the second appearance of the Green Goblin); Avengers #4 in 9.4 (second highest graded) featuring the first Silver Age appearance of Captain America and a gorgeous Justice League of America #1 in 9.4, the second best existing copy behind only one in 9.6.
Many other great books will be available to bid on and buy in the auction, including a high grade group of early 1960’s Batmans, including a killer run from the Pacific Coast Collection. The Batmans start at issue #129 and the Pacific Coast run consists of 17 issues between #152 and #171, most in 9.4 and 9.6 CGC certified condition. Almost every Batman in this group is the highest graded CGC copy. There will also be a fabulous group of early 9.2 -9.6 Green Lanterns in the Grand Auction (11 issues between #3 and #19), including a bunch from the Pacific Coast Collection (5 issues between #14 and #19). Every copy, save for two, is the top certified one according to the CGC census. Wonder Woman fans will love the killer group of 9.4-9.8 Silver Age issues (11 books in total), including a few from the Pacific Coast pedigree. For the Marvel collectors, there is an amazing run of Strange Tales with issues mostly from the Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD run of the title and includes 20 issues, all in 9.4 or higher with many in 9.6 and 9.8. Almost every book in the run is from a recognized pedigree or original owner collection including Boston, Mile High II, Pacific Coast, Rocky Mountain, Valparaiso and Western Penn. Most of the comics in the Strange Tales run have white pages with the rest at off-white to white.

Pedigree Comics is continuing to accept consignments for the April Grand Auction. The higher the value of your book(s) that sell in the auction the more money you take home under Pedigree's Climbing Scale. Pedigree consistently sets new sales records for Silver and Bronze Age comics in each Grand Auction as well as on its Web site.
Prospective consignors can also upload their own scans, item information, descriptions and reserve amounts for the Grand Auction by utilizing the Automated Consignment System. Just register onto the site, click "Customer Page" under "Your Account" and then click "Consignments" (under "Auctions"). You will then be able to enter the Pedigree Comics Consignment Management System and upload your own CGC certified books and magazines. Pedigree Comics will receive an email automatically once you have uploaded the information and they will then review the information imparted for accuracy. The item(s) will then be added to the April Grand Auction to be bid on. You will be amazed how simple it is to utilize the Automated Consignment System.
