According to a representative from The CW, Smallville - the Superman-based television drama - will be returning for a tenth season this coming fall. The show, which stars Tom Welling as Clark Kent, has evolved over the past nine seasons from a show focusing on the formative years of Clark Kent into a full-fledged superhero drama, guest-starring many characters from the across the DCU. Despite the departure of most of the original cast, the show has held on strong offering fans solid storylines and glimpses into the far corners of the Superman mythology.
Perhaps the cementing factor in the announcement of the tenth season was the ratings for this season's movie event, Absolute Justice, which was penned by comic super-scribe Geoff Johns. As of right now, it is unconfirmed whether Johns, who was recently named Chief Creative Officer for DC Entertainment, will write any episodes for the tenth season, but with 2.8 million viewers for this season's episode, one can speculate that there may be more to come from the "architect" of DCE.
