Doug Schmell, CEO and President of Pedigree Comics, Inc., reported that his company's January Grand Auction, which lasted for ten days and ended on Thursday, January 28, 2009 was a phenomenal success. It was the second highest in total sales (over $850,000) of Pedigree's live, internet auctions, surpassed only by the one from August, 2009 (over $1,000,000). The highlights of the auction were the record-breaking sales of ultra high grade (CGC certified 9.4 and higher) of Silver Age Marvel and DC comic books, many from original owner and pedigreed collections. Although Pedigree Comics is mostly known for its incredible selection (both on its Web site regular inventory and the quarterly Grand Auctions) of high-end 1960's Marvels, this latest auction was perhaps the very best one ever for early Silver Age DC's. Fueled by nice runs of Pacific Coast Aquamans, Atoms and Metal Men, plus a fabulous group of books from the recently discovered Mound City Collection, early 1960s DC's were well represented and sold for record prices.

Pedigree Comics is now beginning to accept consignments for their next auction, in April, 2010, which will have hundreds of new Silver Age and Bronze Age Marvels and DC's, including a killer run of early 1960's Batmans from the Pacific Coast Collection, early 9.4 and 9.6 Green Lanterns plus some more brand new choice high grade Silver Age Marvels keys. Do yourself a favor and go through your CGC graded books now in order to get first billing for the upcoming auction. Pedigree aggressively markets and advertises their auctions so the sooner your consignments are included, the more publicity and attention they will receive. In addition, the higher the value of your book(s) that sell in the auction the more $$ you take home under Pedigree's Climbing Scale. Pedigree consistently sets new sales records for Silver and Bronze Age comics in each Grand Auction as well as on its Web site, including the recent, record-setting sale of a Tales to Astonish #27 in CGC graded 9.4 for $75,000 in January.
Prospective consignors can also upload their own scans, item information, descriptions and reserve amounts for the Grand Auction by utilizing the Automated Consignment System. Just register onto the site, click "Customer Page" under "Your Account" and then click "Consignments" (under "Auctions"). You will then be able to enter the Pedigree Comics Consignment Management System and upload your own CGC certified books and magazines. Pedigree Comics will receive an email automatically once you have uploaded the information and they will then review the information imparted for accuracy. The item(s) will then be added to the April Grand Auction to be bid on.
