According to the Deadline Hollywood, 30-year-old Jason Momoa has been cast as the title character in Marcus Nispel's reimagining of Robert E. Howard's Conan, the Barbarian. Momoa, who is best known for his role as the Setedan warrior, Ronon Dex, on Stargate Atlantis, will sit on the throne of Cimeria in the film that is set to start production in Bulgaria on March 15, 2010. No release date has been set for the Lionsgate/Millenium Films feature, but it expected to hit theatres some time in 2010.

In addition, the Latino Review is reporting that an offer has been made to Mickey Rourke for the role of Corin, Conan's father. Although no further details have been released regarding the film, it is rumored that this film will be more in line with the original stories written by Howard, than the past film have been.
