Rob Reynolds, Director of Consignments at ComicConnect.com, handled a call the other day from an interested bidder in this month’s Joe Desris Double Cover & Comic Book Rarities Event Auction.
The caller asked, “Rob, I know what a treasure it is to have all these double covers up for auction and just how hard it is to find even those. I also see the auction has a select number of triple and quadruple covers. How much harder is it to find them?”
“Up until this auction, nearly impossible,” Reynolds answered.
“With over 60 triple covers, and just a handful of quadruple, quintuple, sextuple, and a single octuple cover up for auction, the opportunity to add something extraordinary to your collection is here. You don’t want to miss this chance,” Reynolds concluded.
The cream of the triple covers includes Batman #33 CGC 9.2, an All Winners #13 PGX 7.0 with an Alex Schomburg cover, Modern Comics #96 NM- featuring Blackhawk, Jetsons #1 CGC 7.0, Creepy Things #6 CGC 9.4, Green Lantern #29 CGC 8.5, Shock Suspenstories #13 FN featuring Frank Frazetta’s only solo EC story, and Superman #62 CGC 7.5.
Quadruple covers include: Marvel Comics Presents #92 CGC 9.8 with a Sam Kieth Wolverine cover, Detective Comics #75 Good, Green Lantern #40 CGC 4.5, and a Brave and the Bold #154 VF+ with Metamorpho.
Quintuple covers showcased by ComicConnect.com: Lone Ranger’s Companion Tonto #7 FN-, The Unexpected #122 F/VF, Uncanny X-Men #250 NM, and a Fantastic Four #223 CGC 9.0.
Sextuple covers include: Red Ryder Comics #90 CGC 9.6, Captain America #280 9.8 with a Mike Zeck cover, and Kirby’s Justice, inc. #3 VF-.
The rarest of them all in the auction, an octuple cover, is a Frank Frazetta Swords of Valor #1 VF+.
“I’ve bought and sold comic books for over two decades and if I get a call from a seller with a double cover more than once a year, that’s a lot,” said ComicConnect.com’s COO Vincent Zurzolo. “Each year I get in more high grade copies of Amazing Fantasy #15 than I do examples of double covers or printing errors. What we see here with the Joe Desris collection being brought to market is extraordinary. Comic collectors need to go to ComicConnect.com and bid now.”
