Comicspriceguide.com has just learned from Doug Schmell of Pedigree Comics, Inc. that an incredible group of high grade early Silver Age Marvels and DC’s from the Mound City Collection will be added to his company’s (www.PedigreeComics.com) Grand Auction this weekend. The auction, which starts in only three days on January 18th at 8:00 p.m and runs for 10 days until Thursday evening, January 28th, will have over 400 high grade CGC certified comics and magazines and is shaping up to be perhaps the best online auction yet for early 1960’s Marvels and DC’s. The group of Mound City’s includes 34 amazing books all in 9.0 and higher, most of which (25) are in ultra high grade (CGC certified 9.4 and higher) with a bunch of 9.6’s and a 9.8.
"For those of you who do not know, the Mound City Collection is an original owner accumulation of approximately 3,000 early Silver through early Bronze Age Marvels and DC’s. The original owner, who lived with his mother, passed away several years ago and his treasured books remained carefully stored in boxes under the stairwell in his mother’s house. When his mother died just recently, the entire inheritance went to the closing living heir, a cousin, who in turn consigned the comic books to an auction house. The auction house had most of the books CGC graded and then sold the entire collection in a live auction event. That auction was recently held on November 1st and 2nd, 2009, in St. Louis, Missouri with unbelievable results," said Schmell.

Many of the Mound City books are the highest CGC certified copy for that particular issue and most of the books have beautiful off-white to white or white page quality with none less than off-white. The books are further characterized by outstanding cover gloss and amazing structure, a testament to the storage methods of the original owner. Overall, the collection is one of the all-time best and most significant finds of early Silver Age Marvel and DC comic books, especially when considering the number of high grade CGC copies.
In addition, Pedigree just recveived on consignment a group of high grade (mostly 9.6) Silver Age Marvels and DC's for the auction, many of which have white pages.
