ComicsPriceGuide.com has learned that Pedigree Comics has just received on consignment some amazing Silver Age Marvels for their next Grand Auction, including the White Mountain copy of Fantastic Four #1 (CGC certified 9.2), X-Men #1 in 9.2, and X-Men #s 2-4 in 9.4. In addition, Pedigree Comics has just recently purchased some incredible high grade books from the newly annointed Mound City Collection plus early Silver Age DC runs from the Pacific Coast Collection. All of these comics, almost 70 in total, will be featured in Pedigree's upcoming Grand Auction that begins on Monday, January 18, 2010 and lasts for ten (10) days until Thursday night, January 28th.
"We are very pleased to be bringing the White Mountain copy of Fantastic Four #1 to market. It is one of only two copies in CGC graded 9.2 and stands as the 6th best existing example of this mega key comic book. It has been locked away in the private holding of a major collector (whose Amazing Fantasy #15 in 9.2 we sold for $190,000 in our February Grand Auction) and has not seen the light of day for years. It is a stunning copy that possesses all of the characteristics that has made the White Mountain Collection so famous; incredible pages, deep cover gloss, near-perfect structure and a newsstand flat and fresh appearance. This is the second best copy ever offered for sale since a 9.4 sold way back in 2002. This same collector has also consigned to us his X-Men #1 in 9.2 plus X-Men #s 2, 3 and 4, all in CGC graded 9.4 and all four books will be featured in the auction,"said Doug Schmell.
The Mound City books include some ultra high grade early Silver Age Marvels and DC's from a myriad of titles including Adventure Comics, Detective Comics, Fantastic Four, Flash, Incredible Hulk, Journey Into Mystery, Justice League of America, Strange Tales, World's Finest Comics and more. Almost every Mound City book is in 9.4 and higher grade. The Pacific Coast runs feature early issues of Aquaman (#4 - #20), Atom (5, 7 and 8) and Metal Men (2, 5-12), nearly 30 issues in total, almost every book in 9.4 and 9.6 condition. There are also a few non-Pacific Coast issues within the runs, including Aquman #3 in 9.8 (single highest certified) and the best existing copy of Metal Men #1, a white-paged 9.6 copy from the Curator Collection. Almost every single book from these runs is the highest certified copy and about half are the single highest.
