ComicsPriceGuide.com has learned that Pedigree Comics, Inc. has just acquired the world's best CGC certified set of early Silver Age Atoms plus his initial three appearances in Showcase. According to Doug Schmell, President and CEO of Pedigree, the group contains 11 very early Atom issues, including Showcase #34, #35 and #36, as well as Atom #1 and #4-10. Every copy is the highest graded and best existing one and 9 out of the 11 books are from major pedigreed collections (Pacific Coast and Western Penn). Schmell states: "These books are incredible and must be seen in person to be fully appreciated. Every book in this group is the nicest copy of that particular issue I have ever seen and is characterized by outstanding cover gloss, page quality and eye appeal. I have always loved these early Atom covers but never really collected DC's so I never had the opportunity to hold them in my hands. To find these issues in strict Near-Mint and Near-Mint Plus condition is extremely rare and quite a thrill". The grades are as follows:

The entire group was assembled by a very picky Atom collector who only wanted the highest graded copy of each issue he could find. He would also target pedigree copies over non-pedigrees when available. He did not enter his books into the CGC Registry but, if he did, his Atom group would constitute the #1 set. After back and forth negotiations, Pedigree Comics was able to acquire the group and is offering each issue for sale this Saturday afternoon, November 21st, in the New Arrivals section of the Web site (
