According to Pedigree Comics, Inc.'s CEO and President, Doug Schmell, the company's recently completed Grand Auction, a live (time-based), separate feature on their Web site (www.PedigreeComics.com) was a phenomenal success. Including the high grade Avengers group that sold just prior to the start of the auction to one collector, 450 lots met their reserves, about 65% of the total lots in the auction. The 450 sold lots grossed over $660,000 for the ten (10) day event, which runs approximately every 3 months on the site. 

Most of the 450 lots that sold were high grade Silver and Bronze Age Marvels, the segment of the market that Pedigree Comics is known for. According to Mr. Schmell, the bidding was furious for the Marvel runs in the auction, leading to many record breaking sales, especially for books in the ultra high grade range (CGC certified 9.4 and higher). There were many new registrants on the site bidding on the Marvel books, collectors who recently got back into the hobby due to the advent of certification. With so many bidders and so many investment quality books to choose from, there is little wonder why such a frenzy was created, leading to sales of almost unheard of multiples of Guide prices.

Prospective consignors can also upload their own scans, item information, descriptions and reserve amounts for the Grand Auctions by utilizing the Automated Consignment System. It is actually very easy and fun to do. Just register onto the site, click "Customer Page" under "Your Account" and then click "Consignments" (under "Auctions"). You will then be able to enter the Pedigree Comics Consignment Management System and upload your own CGC certified books and magazines. Pedigree Comics will receive an email automatically once you have uploaded the information and they will then review the information imparted for accuracy. The item(s) will then be added to the September 2009 Grand Auction to be bid on.
