Pedigree Comics' next Grand Auction, which begins this Sunday evening, May 10, 2009, is shaping up to be an incredible event.  According to CEO and President Doug Schmell, there are a number of fabulous runs, sets and individual books consigned to the auction, which will feature something for every high grade collector out there. There are over 500 confirmed books already in the auction with many more being added through this weekend. The focus of the auction is the incredible Marvel runs, including the second best CGC Registry set of Captain America #100-#454, the second best CGC Registry set of Nick Fury #1-#18, the 4th highest Registry set of Strange Tales #101-#188, the 3rd finest Registry set of Tales to Astonish #1-#101, the #2 Registry set of Incredible Hulk #180-182 Wolverine and the 7th best set of Avengers #1-#250. Plus, the Amazing Spider-Man set is gorgeous, with many 9.6 and 9.4 examples. If you like high grade Silver Age Marvel keys, then you won't be disappointed with the X-Men #1 9.0, the Amazing Spider-Man #1 8.0, the Avengers #1 9.0 or the Tales of Suspense #39 9.0, plus many more. 

For DC enthusiasts, the Green Lantern set (Green Lantern #76-#89) stands as the 4th best Registry one and there will also be a fabulous group of ultra high grade Silver Age Flash in the auction, almost 30 issues in total. Many are in 9.6 and 9.4 CGC grade with a couple of 9.8's. And for you Golden Age collectors out there, check out some of the newly consigned Action Comics, All-American Comics, All Star Comics, Batman, Detectives Superman, and Captain America Comics. Some incredible issues and copies are contained in this major consignment of almost 30 books, including a gorgeous copy of Superman 1 in 3.0 that has to be seen to be believed as it looks more like a 5.0, a ridiculous 9.4 copy of Catman Comics #1 from the Denver pedigree, All Star Comics #8 in tightly graded 7.5 and Sensation Comics #1 in 8.5. 

For Bronze Age Marvel collectors out there, you will find an unprecedented group of 9.8 and 9.6 keys and first appearance issues, most of which are the highest certified copies to date. The selection undoubtedly represents the absolute best ultra high graded Marvel Bronze Age offering ever in one single event. Please check the listing below for some of the highlights. 

Also on consignment is an unbelievable collection of high grade and ultra high grade Harvey File Copies. Most of the books (almost 40 in total) are the highest certified copies to date. Titles include Richie Rich, Richie Rich Dollars and Cents, Richie Rich Millions, Richie Rich Success Stories and more. Almost every book is a CGC certified 9.4 or 9.6 with a few in 9.8. All are obviously unread and uncirculated file copies. In addition, an amazing group of highest CGC graded copies of Gold Keys and Dells will be included in the Grand Auction. There are many #1, single highest rated issues in the group, all in 9.6 and 9.8 condition! There are many different titles to choose from, almost all from the popular television photo cover genre.   

Finally, so pretty much every genre is covered, there is a very nice selection of ultra high grade magazines in the auction, highlighted by the world's best existing copy of Vampirella #1 in CGC certified 9.4. For those of you who collect magazines, Vampirella #1 constitutes the best of the Warren line and is easily one of the toughest books to find in high grade. The 9.4 example is one of only three to ever make it to certified Near-Mint status. There will also be an amazing group of CGC Signature series magazines signed by legendary artist Frank Frazatta (Creepy, Eerie and Blazing Combat).

Prospective consignors can also upload their own scans, item information, descriptions and reserve amounts for the Grand Auctions by utilizing the Automated Consignment System. It is actually very easy and fun to do. Just register onto the site, click "Customer Page" under "Your Account" and then click "Consignments" (under "Auctions"). You will then be able to enter the Pedigree Comics Consignment Management System and upload your own CGC certified books and magazines. Pedigree Comics will receive an email automatically once you have uploaded the information and they will then review the information imparted for accuracy. The item(s) will then be added to the May 2009 Grand Auction to be bid on.
