Pedigree Comics' Doug Schmell is pleased to announce an unbelievable collection of uncirculated "newsstand" comics from various publishers, mostly DC and Gold Key. This is simply an amazing find of 60 comic books that all come from the month of June 1964, save for a couple of issues from May and July. All of the books come from the original owner, who had these books on his newsstand when he closed the stand for good almost 45 years ago. The books were never sold or circulated; they were just meticulously and carefully stored by this man for the past 45 years in his garage. He sold some of the books from the newsstand and the ones that were left over were recently sold to a local dealer here in South Florida, who in turn submitted them to the CGC for grading.  

Pedigree Comics, Inc. just acquired all 60 books and they are, simply put, in incredible condition. Out of the 60 books, an amazing 52 are either 9.4 or 9.6 with the rest in 9.2, and one in 9.0, and one in 8.5. There are multiple copies of almost every issue. The comics come from a fabulous selection of different publishers and titles from this mid-1964 time period.

You can tell by looking at each comic that they were never read, just carefully stored in stacks by the newsstand owner. The books are are characterized by unreal structure and shiny covers, perfect centering and registration and off-white/off-white to white page quality (with a few cream to off-white and a few white). Pedigree Comics will begin listing the initial group (over 20 books) from the "Newsstand Collection" starting on Friday, January 16, 2009 and continuing into the weekend. No duplicate copies will be listed over the weekend. The remaining issues and doubles will be listed starting on Monday, February 2, 2009.
