Incredible Incredible Hulk Sales on Pedigree Comics

April was a very busy month at Pedigree Comics, Inc. They sold and bought a ton of CGC certified books. The clear winner and hottest Bronze Age title currently, with crossover sales into the Silver Age, is the Incredible Hulk. According to Pedigree's President and CEO Doug Schmell, sales of Incredible Hulk issues that are CGC certified in 9.4 to 9.8 have been selling at unprecedented levels, and the sales off the website in April constituted record prices across the board. Ultra high grade copies definitely fuel the passion of many collectors as does the advent of the second major Incredible Hulk film starring Edward Norton which will hit screens all over the world this summer. That plus the fact that Guide prices on Incredible Hulk issues are very still very affordable, even at serious multiples. Compare these prices to that of Amazing Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, X-Men, and many other titles and you will understand the recent Hulk bonanza.

While the Incredible Hulk has always been a fairly popular title, particularly with issues ranging from #102-#200 according to Schmell have seen a renewed interest in the issues in the 200's from the late 1970s to early 1980s. When Doug listed an ultra high grade 9.4 and better run of Incredible Hulk from the famed Winnipeg Collection starting on April 11, 2008 almost every single issue flew off the site at record prices. 45 books in total between Incredible Hulk #201 and Incredible Hulk #262 plus Incredible Hulk Annuals #7, 8, and 10 were listed and only a few books have remained unsold. The lure of the Winnipeg Collection which features bone white pages, perfect structure, full cover gloss and an unread look certainly helped fuel the sales. Unbelievable multiples of Guide was paid including 10 times for 9.4's, 15-16 times on 9.6's and almost 25 times on the few 9.8's that were part of the run. Even at such high multiples, these issues are simply affordable for most high grade collectors.

Sales of the late 1960s and early 1970s issues of the Incredible Hulk in 9.4 and better were just as strong, as were sales of issues of Tales to Astonish which co-starred the Incredible Hulk. A killer group of books from both titles were listed in late April and the results were, actually, incredible and astonishing. Most of these books had been purchased from various dealers at the New York Comic Con on the weekend of April 18-20, 2008. Although Mr. Schmell paid aggressive prices just to ensure these books would end up on his site, the prices he achieved online were staggering and each sale achieved was a new record for that issue.
