This year marks the 25th Anniversary of "Usagi Yojimbo."  Join the celebration as creator Stan Sakai talks about the history of the popular series, the characters who populate Usagi's world, his working process, and more in this panel that fans of all ages will enjoy.

2:30-3:30 Spotlight on Chris Claremont
Chris Claremont has written just about every character around, from Batman to Iron Fist to the Fantastic Four.  However, to a legion of comics fans, he is fondly regarded as "the" X-Men writer.  He's wowing readers with his take on the X-Men in the current series, "X-Men Forever."  Come and get the inside scoop on what's in store for Sabretooth, Kitty, Gambit, Rogue - and perhaps the answer to the seminal question:  Why are there no old mutants?

ComicsPriceGuide.com has just learned that a number of high grade Silver Age Marvel keys will be featured in Pedigree Comics' upcoming Grand Auction. According to Pedigree's CEO and President Doug Schmell, his company has obtained on consignment an Amazing Spider-Man #1 in CGC certified 9.0; Fantastic Four #1 in 8.5; a 9.8 copy of Iron Man #1 (CGC Signature Series, signed by Gene Colan) and a 9.4 copy of Tales of Suspense #39 featuring the origin and first appearance of Iron Man. The Grand Auction will start on Sunday, November 1, 2009 and will feature hundreds of high grade and ultra high grade Silver and Bronze Age Marvels and Gold Keys.

Mr. Schmell states that "Pedigree is extremely proud to be bringing these key books to market. All four books are exceptionally nice and were hand-picked by private collectors because of their overall near-mint structure. The Amazing Spider-Man #1 is as nice a copy as we have seen in years and has off-white to white pages. The Fantastic Four #1 8.5 similarly has off-white to white pages and is the highest graded and best copy we have ever offered for sale and represents the absolute nicest copy to hit the market in over 7 years. The Iron Man #1 is signed by cover and interior artist Gene Colan and is the best existing CGC Signature Series. It has white pages and is perfectly centered. The highlight of the auction, however, is the 9.4 example of Tales of Suspense #39, which is the third finest known copy of the book following only two in 9.6. A 9.4 copy has never been offered publicly for sale. The book is incredibly bright and perfectly centered with razor sharp edges and corners and it looks virtually unread. It has no writings, arrival dates, date stamps, etc. The book is further characterized by fresh off-white pages. It must be seen to be believed".

Many more high grade Marvels and Marvel keys will be added to the Grand Auction in the upcoming weeks. Please make sure you check the Web site (www.PedigreeComics.com) every day as well as CPG for all further announcements and latest news.

Pedigree Comics is currently accepting consignments for the Grand Auction which will run for ten (10) days between Sunday evening, November 1st and Wednesday evening, November 11th. They will continue to accept consignments up until the auction commencement and even till the middle of the following week (until Thursday, November 15th). Please contact Pedigree's CEO and President Doug Schmell at 561-422-1120 or 561-596-9111 or email him at DougSchmell@pedigreecomics.com for any questions, comments or information about the consigning process. Remember, the higher the value of your book(s) that sell in the auction the more money you take home under Pedigree's Climbing Scale. Pedigree consistently sets new sales records for Silver and Bronze Age Marvels in each Grand Auction.

Prospective consignors can also upload their own scans, item information, descriptions and reserve amounts for the Grand Auction by utilizing the Automated Consignment System. It is actually very easy and fun to do. Just register onto the site, click "Customer Page" under "Your Account" and then click "Consignments" (under "Auctions"). You will then be able to enter the Pedigree Comics Consignment Management System and upload your own CGC certified books and magazines. Pedigree Comics will receive an email automatically once you have uploaded the information and they will then review the information imparted for accuracy. The item(s) will then be added to the November Grand Auction to be bid on.

ComicConnect asks ComicsPriceGuide.com readers to join them in welcoming Rob Reynolds as their Director of Consignments!

Rob is a lifelong comic collector and investor.  At age six, he made his first comic book purchase off the newsstand at the local market – an Adventure Comics #451, which he still owns!  Rob’s comic collection has since grown to include a number of Alex Schomburg covers, early Captain Marvel Adventures, and many Silver Age keys.

Rob grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  He and his family have lived in New York City for the last 10 years.  Prior to joining ComicConnect, Rob held several retail management positions, including the Yankee’s Clubhouse Shop in Times Square.  He obtained a degree in Journalism from Indiana University, Bloomington, and today spends his free time playing basketball, listening to old jazz, and watching The Simpsons.

“The ComicConnect business has had explosive growth over the past year, and as the number of consignments increased, we wanted to find the right person to meet that demand, and help sellers realize the fullest potential in the sale of their books,” stated ComicConnect’s Ben Smith.  “After conducting a very extensive search, we believe we have found that individual in Rob Reynolds.  His breadth of knowledge and passion for our hobby is an 11 out of 10, and we’re very excited to have him aboard.”

What better way to welcome Rob Reynolds, than to contact him to consign comics or seek an appraisal?  Email Rob at support@comicconnect.com or call 212-895-3999 (international 001-212-895-3999).

If you have comics to sell that are already graded by CGC or PGX, ComicConnect will scan and list your $1 start, no reserve, auction consignments at no additional charge.

The seller's commission is still the same low 10% and there are never any buyer's premiums. Simply contact Rob to get confirmation, then send your slabbed comics and ComicConnect will do the rest!  ComicConnect’s shipping address is 873 Broadway, Suite 201, New York, NY 10003.

It is widely agreed among comic collectors and aficionados that the most important comic book of all time is the first superhero comic book, and first appearance of Superman, which is 1938’s Action Comics #1.

This book is so rare, some experts believe that less than 100 copies are still in existence.  In a hobby that has attracted millions of collectors, and with the iconic name of Superman recognized globally by hundreds of millions, if not billions, of the world’s population, it’s pretty big news when a copy of Action Comics #1 comes to market.

Right now, an original Action Comics #1 is up for auction on ComicConnect.com.  As of when this article was written, it has received 25 bids and is currently at $57,000.  The auction still has over one week to go, and will close at 6:45 PM EDT in Session 1 of the ComicConnect September Event Auction.
