Pedigree Comics' CEO and President Doug Schmell has announced a group of new consignments have been added to the upcoming Grand Auction and can be seen in the Auction Preview. Just go to the Pedigree Comics web site, click on the Grand Auctions banner, and then click on "Action Listings" to view the books. There are currently over 240 high grade Marvels and other publishers in the auction, which lasts for ten (10) days starting on Thursday night, February 5th and ending on Sunday night, February 15th. More and more consignments have been coming in on a daily basis, states Mr. Schmell, and he projects around 300 total books will be in this Grand Auction, shaping it as one of the best ultra high grade time-based auctions ever.

Pedigree Comics is currently accepting new items for the auction and will continue to up until the auction commencement on February 5th and even into the following week. You can add new books even after the auction has started as long as it is no later than Tuesday, February 10, 2008 up until midnight. Prospective consignors can also upload their own scans, item information, descriptions and reserve amounts for the Grand Auctions by utilizing the Automated Consignment System. It is actually very easy and fun to do. Just register onto the site, click "Customer Page" under "Your Account" and then click "Consignments" (under "Auctions"). You will then be able to enter the Pedigree Comics Consignment Management System and upload your own CGC certified books and magazines. Pedigree Comics will receive an email automatically once you have uploaded the information and they will then review the information imparted for accuracy. The item(s) will then be added to the February 2009 Grand Auction to be bid on.

Matt Nelson and Stephen Ritter have just announced an update on the upcoming Comic Book Pedigrees book. After many inquiries about the forthcoming book on the greatest comic pedigree collections will be finished, they have decided to bring everyone on board to follow us down the final stretch. They felt that a checklist of completed collections and an official pedigree thread on CGC's message boards would be the perfect way to keep collectors informed of their progress. The checklist, which will be continuously updated as they go, and can be viewed at comicpedigrees.com. The website will also have a direct link to the CGC thread.  

It is important to point out that research for any pedigree is ongoing until they go to print, even the ones for which layouts have been completed. They still need help filling in gaps, obtaining original lists, and finding pictures of certain pedigrees. Please visit the official CGC message board thread for their information requests, collector feedback and discussions involving both our book and pedigrees in general. The book's release is planned for the later part of 2009 with announcement of the books release date pending.

In a recent private transaction collector Rick Whitelock sold a run of Detective Comics #28-#38. Each of the 10 comics sold were certified by CGC with two comics in the transaction from the Davis Crippen pedigree. “Over the years, I have owned multiple copies of Detective Comics #27-38, and once I sold my copy of Detective Comics #27 last year, I decided to part with the entire run, hoping to find one buyer for the lot. Out of all the issues I had, I felt the ones I kept for me, were the best I had run across at the time,” said Rick Whitelock.

The Hero Initiative announced that it will hold a Charity Art Auction at New York Comic Con, Feb. 6-8, 2009. The auction will feature original pieces of art from some of the biggest names in the comic book industry, including works by Joe Quesada, George Pérez, Darwyn Cooke, Jae Lee, John Romita Sr. and Jr., Steve Rude, Jim Starlin, Walter Simonson, Joe Madureira, and all the Image Comics founders. A total of 128 lots are available in the event, divided into two main categories: a live auction and a silent auction.

The live auction, hosted by Hero Initiative Chairman George Pérez, will take place on Saturday, February 7 at 6:30 p.m. ET in room 1A14 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and feature 29 major lots. Items for the live auction can be viewed at The Hero Initiative booth, #1865, all day Friday and until 5 p.m. ET Saturday.

The silent auction will take place at The Hero Initiative booth. Items for Friday, February 6’s auction can be viewed on Friday, February 6. Bidding will close at 5 p.m. ET. Items for Saturday, February 7’s auction can be viewed on both Friday and Saturday. Bidding will close at 4 p.m. ET. Note this early time! Items for Sunday, February 8’s auction can be viewed all weekend. Bidding will close at 3 p.m. ET.

Fans unable to attend the auctions in person can view the items up for bid in a .pdf catalog available for download at The Hero Initiative website at www.heroinitiative.org. They then may bid by proxy by contacting Joe Davidson at yensid4disney@gmail.com. All proxy bids must be in no later than Wednesday, Feb. 4, 12 p.m. PT.

And another important note: No printed catalogs will be available on-site at the New York Comic Con! Hero strongly encourages bidders to check out the .pdf downloads, and print out their own copies if they wish.

Highlights in the auction include Joe Madureira pages from Marvel Comics’ Ultimates 3. To date, Joe has sold none of his Ultimates 3 pages. This is the first time, and may be the only time, art from this series is available.

Proceeds benefit The Hero Initiative, which creates a monetary safety net for yesterday’s creators who may need emergency medical aid, financial support for essentials of life and an avenue back into paying work. Less than two weeks away, Pedigree Comics' Grand Auction is gaining stream and is shaping up to be a "CGC Highest Certified" bonanza. Because of the inclusion of the world's best runs of Captain America and Sgt. Fury and His Howling Commandos, most of the books in the auction which starts on Thursday February 5th are the highest graded copies according to the CGC Census. More and more consignments have been coming in and you can view over 175 high-grade Marvel's and other publishers in the Auction Preview. Go to Pedigree Comics and click on the Grand Auction banner, and then click on "Auction Listings" to view the books. There will be over 200 comics in the Grand Auction so make sure to mark your calendar for February 5, 2009. The Grand Auction will run for ten days and will end on Sunday evening, February 15, 2009. Pedigree Comics is currently accepting new items for the auction and will continue to up until the auction commencement on February 5th and even into the weekend. Prospective consignors can also upload their own scans, item information, descriptions and reserve amounts for the Grand Auctions by utilizing the Automated Consignment System. It is actually very easy and fun to do. Just register onto the site, click "Customer Page" under "Your Account" and then click "Consignments" (under "Auctions"). You will then be able to enter the Pedigree Comics Consignment Management System and upload your own CGC certified books and magazines. Pedigree Comics will receive an email automatically once you have uploaded the information and they will then review the information imparted for accuracy. The item(s) will then be added to the February 2009 Grand Auction to be bid on.
